… online data backup solutions and storage

admin2 On October - 25 - 2012

A Calgary family sadly discovered that their photos of their deceased son were stolen from their home. The break-in happened while the family was out of their Springbank home.

Thieves broke into the house and stole passports, credit cards, a TV, a guitar, an iPad and a laptop that contained photos of Matthew Bienert who had passed away 5 years ago.

“They had all their recent and past photos of him saved on a laptop and didn’t have any other access to them. They haven’t managed to save them to another hard drive,” said Constable Peter Wood.

“It’s all their memories of their son (and) they’ve disappeared now.”

The family is pleading for the return of the laptop.

This upset and pain caused by this unfortunate event could have been mitigated if only a backup had been made. It could serve as a good reminder to us all who have irreplaceable or valuable digital documents to back up offsite. Relying upon the kindness of thieves is far riskier and less likely of success than relying upon a backup service.
